Whistler, James Abbott McNeill (American, 1834-1903). Drouet, Sculpteur, 1859. Etching and drypoint, signed, dated, and titled in plate. 9 1/2" x 6 1/2" (Sight). 14 1/2" x 11 3/8 (Frame). Wood frame with mat, not examined out of frame. James McNeill Whistler was an American-born painter and printmaker whose London-based career championed “art for art’s sake” and a refined, tonal approach to composition. Known for his lyrical “arrangements,” “harmonies,” and “nocturnes,” he fused visual delicacy with a bold public persona. His influential aesthetic theories shaped modern art across Europe and the United States.
