An assortment of vintage pillowcases constructed from white and cream-colored cotton or linen textiles. The collection features a variety of decorative needlework and trim techniques. Included are two pillowcases with gray-blue floral and scrolling vine embroidery along scalloped, embroidered edges. Another piece displays white-on-white floral eyelet embroidery, also known as broderie anglaise, finished with a wide, handmade-style crocheted lace border. The group also contains pillowcases with white-on-white floral embroidery, scalloped edges, and drawn-thread work details. Condition: The textiles show significant signs of age and long-term storage. Extensive yellowing and brown foxing or spotting are present across multiple pieces. Some items exhibit dark brown staining consistent with rust or liquid marks. A small wear hole is visible in the body of the fabric on at least one pillowcase.
