This vintage commemorative vanity bag or hat box style purse was produced to mark the 1867-1967 Canadian Centennial. The circular bag is constructed from black patent vinyl with a glossy finish and features a structured, flat base. The front face is decorated with a centrally placed, multi-color printed Coat of Arms of Canada above the text CANADA and the commemorative dates 1867 - 1967. The Latin motto A MARI USQUE AD MARE is printed within the heraldic design. Flanking the central crest are two green graphic logos depicting the stylized triangular maple leaf designed for the Centennial, also accompanied by the 1867 | 1967 dates. The bag is equipped with a matching black vinyl carry handle and a gold-tone metal snap closure. The interior is lined with a smooth black fabric. Dimensions measured against a ruler: Width approx. 8 in; Height approx. 9.5 in; Total Height (with handle) approx. 13.5 in. Condition: The patent vinyl exterior exhibits all-over surface scratching, scuffs, and areas of clouding or haziness consistent with age and use. The printed graphics are largely intact with minor instances of wear. The metal hardware shows some light oxidation. The interior lining remains clean.
