Hand-carved and painted wooden female wood duck decoy by J.C. West, modeled in a compact resting pose with inset glass eyes and detailed plumage in warm brown, cream, black, blue, and muted green tones. The carved body is accented with individually painted feather patterns, a sculpted bill, and elongated tail feathers, giving the piece a strong folk-art and decorative appeal. The underside is hand-inscribed “Female Wood Duck,” signed “J.C. West,” and dated 1976. Condition shows light age-related wear with scattered scratches, rubbing, minor paint loss, and surface abrasions consistent with age and display. Measures 3"H x 5"W x 2.5"D.
