Antique English Cauldon earthenware serving platter in the “Messina” pattern, decorated in rich cobalt flow blue with large repeating floral sprays, leafy vines, and smaller trailing blossoms arranged around the broad rim, with a smaller floral cluster centering the well. The underside bears the blue printed “CAULDON ENGLAND / MESSINA” backstamp together with an additional impressed or printed registration-style mark, identifying the maker and pattern. The platter displays attractive characteristic spreading or “flowing” of the cobalt decoration into the surrounding white glaze, giving the floral ornament the soft-edged appearance prized by flow-blue collectors. Condition shows substantial age-related wear, including overall crazing to the glaze, scratches and utensil marks across the central well, scattered staining and discoloration, darkened crazing, several small rim chips and glaze losses, and areas of heavier wear around the edge. Measures 2"H x 15"W.
