Striking antique agricultural threshing sledge, or tribulum, constructed from heavy joined wooden planks with the working face densely inset with rows of sharp flint and stone fragments. Traditionally drawn across harvested grain, these sledges used the embedded cutting stones to separate grain from stalks and chaff, a farming method employed for centuries throughout Spain and the broader Mediterranean region. The reverse retains simple transverse wooden battens and rugged hand-built construction, while the front displays a deeply weathered surface, pronounced grain, old splits, edge losses, and numerous missing or worn stone inserts, all contributing to its strong primitive and ethnographic character. The piece shows substantial age and agricultural use with cracking, checking, abrasion, staining, wood loss, loose or absent inserts, and overall weathering consistent with prolonged utilitarian service. Measures 62.5"H x 18.5"W x 3.5"D.
