Furniture Co. Early 20th Century Walnut Wardrobe

Handsome early 20th-century wardrobe or chifferobe by The Widdicomb Furniture Co., Grand Rapids, Michigan, retaining the maker’s label inside a drawer. The tall case is constructed in richly figured walnut with a molded cornice, two paneled doors with arched inset fields, small turned upper accents, and tapered feet. Opening to a fitted interior, the cabinet provides a full-height hanging compartment to the left and an organized bank of drawers and open storage compartments to the right, making it a particularly functional gentleman’s wardrobe or bedroom cabinet. The interior configuration includes multiple shallow drawers with curved finger pulls, a small upper drawer, and lower storage. The exterior displays attractive walnut figuring and warm aged color. Condition shows scattered scratches, scuffs, finish wear, small nicks, surface marks and minor veneer/edge wear consistent with age and use. The doors won't stay shut. Measures 55"H x 37.5"W x 24"D.
