A decorative pair of vintage ladies’ parasols or umbrellas, each combining a slender shaft with elaborate silver metal mounts and contrasting fabric canopies. One example features a dramatic lavender-to-purple graduated exterior with scalloped edging, opening to reveal a particularly attractive white interior printed with repeating sprays of pink and lavender roses; its richly modeled handle is decorated with raised floral and foliate ornament, a small suspension chain, and a circular finial centered by a vivid blue cabochon-style accent. The companion example is more restrained, with a classic black canopy and black shaft embellished with silver-tone fittings, including floral relief decoration and a decorative collar. Both retain their metal rib structures and opening mechanisms and present nicely when fully extended. Their general form is consistent with vintage decorative parasols and umbrellas incorporating elaborate silvered or jeweled handles; comparable groups of ladies’ double-canopy parasols with ornate silver-tone and cabochon-decorated handles continue to appear at auction. The canopies and construction suggest these are later vintage pieces rather than 19th-century parasols, although the intentionally historicizing handles draw strongly from Victorian and Edwardian examples. Genuine period parasols with sterling or silver-mounted handles form a distinct and generally more valuable collecting category. Condition appears generally good for decorative use, with scattered surface wear, light soiling, rubbing and oxidation to the metal fittings and minor handling wear to the fabrics; no major structural loss is apparent. Purple/floral umbrella measures 33.5"H x 33"W open and black umbrella is 33"H x 33"W open.
