Charming antique wall-hanging wooden salt box featuring a tall shaped backboard with pierced scrollwork and a projecting covered compartment below. The dark-stained wood is decorated with hand-painted floral motifs to the upper backboard, front door, and side panels, giving the piece a distinctive folk-art character. The lower box retains its hinged front door, small wire latch, molded trim, and shaped lid, while the tall backboard allows the piece to be displayed vertically against a wall. The box shows age-appropriate wear throughout, including scuffs, scratches, finish loss, surface dryness, and several visible cracks and separations to the wood, particularly along the lower side and front construction, consistent with its antique utilitarian use. Measures 15.5"H x 8"W x 8"D.
