An impressive and substantially complete Wallace Silversmiths Antique Baroque 80-piece flatware service for twelve, executed in richly finished 24K gold electroplate over 18/0 stainless steel and accompanied by its fitted multi-tier wooden storage chest. Produced circa 2006-2022 and now discontinued, Antique Baroque is among Wallace's most exuberantly ornamented modern tableware patterns, drawing its visual vocabulary from the scrolling acanthus, floral, rocaille and architectural ornament associated with historic Baroque and Rococo silver. Each handle is elaborately modeled with deeply relieved foliage and scrollwork terminating in a dramatic pointed cartouche-form end, creating the sumptuous visual effect for which Wallace's highly decorative formal flatware is sought. The present 80-piece service corresponds to the documented Wallace factory configuration and comprises twelve hollow-handle dinner knives, twelve dinner forks, twenty-four salad forks, twelve place or dinner spoons and twelve teaspoons, together with an eight-piece matching hostess and serving complement consisting of a serving tablespoon, pierced serving tablespoon, sugar shell spoon, cold meat serving fork, master butter knife, pie server, gravy ladle and large flat or lasagna server. Selected pieces bear the Wallace maker's mark and EP designation, consistent with the pattern's gold-electroplated construction. The polished stainless knife blades provide a handsome contrasting finish against the richly gilded handles, while the substantial serving pieces display the pattern's sculptural ornament to particularly strong effect. The service is housed in a handsome reddish-brown fitted wood chest with dark teal velvet-lined interior, hinged upper section and lower pull-out drawer, providing an elegant presentation for the extensive ensemble. The flatware presents attractively overall with bright gold-toned surfaces and light surface and utensil marks consistent with careful use; no significant plating loss is evident. The fitted chest exhibits scattered minor scratches, marks and handling wear, particularly to the lid, commensurate with storage and use. An unusually extensive presentation of the discontinued Wallace Antique Baroque pattern, combining a complete service-for-twelve format, specialized hostess pieces, richly ornamental gold-plated decoration and fitted storage chest - particularly appealing to collectors of Wallace flatware, gold electroplate tableware, ornate Baroque and Rococo revival design, formal dining services and discontinued luxury tabletop patterns.<br><br>80 pieces total. Fitted wood chest measures 14 3/4" x 10 3/4" x 5 3/4" high.
