Antique two-gallon salt-glazed stoneware crock by Elverson, Sherwood & Barker of New Brighton, Pennsylvania. The company operated under the E.S. & B. name from 1881-1890. Features a cream salt-glazed exterior, dark brown Albany-slip interior and bold cobalt-blue "2" capacity mark with decorative flourishes above the E.S. & B. maker’s stencil. A desirable late-19th-century piece of American stoneware. Measures approximately 9 inches tall and 10 inches in diameter. Displays age-related discoloration, surface wear, firing irregularities and rim wear. A visible vertical line or possible hairline appears beneath the rim to the left of the decoration.
