Geo. Schrade Presto switch blade Knife - 9 Inches

Updated September 18, 2026

Vintage Geo. Schrade Presto automatic folding knife measuring approximately 9 inches open. Tang is clearly marked "GEO. SCHRADE / BRIDGEPORT / CONN." on one side and “PRESTO / MADE IN U.S.A.” on the opposite side. Geo. Schrade produced its Presto automatic knives in Bridgeport, Connecticut, beginning in the late 1920s; the company ceased production in the late 1950s following passage of the Federal Switchblade Act. This example features embossed metal handle scales made to resemble jigged bone, metal bolsters, push-button automatic opening mechanism, safety slide, and bail at the butt. Collector references identify this configuration as a Presto Large Commando type, with the embossed metal handles being a less-expensive alternative to genuine jigged bone. Knife shows age-appropriate scratches, finish wear, patina and handling marks. Blade shows wear and evidence of prior sharpening. Please review photographs carefully for exact condition and operation. Estimated Era: 1930s-1950s A recent sold example of a vintage Schrade Presto Bridgeport knife sold for $350, although condition, model and configuration can affect value considerably.
