Vintage Fairbairn-Sykes style Third Pattern fighting/commando knife measuring approximately 12 inches overall. Features a narrow double-edged dagger blade, oval crossguard, distinctive ribbed black metal handle, and flared pommel. The configuration is consistent with the well-known Fairbairn-Sykes Third Pattern fighting knife design associated with WWII and continuing into the postwar era. Includes a black leather sheath. The inside of the sheath has a handwritten inscription reading: "LCPL LARRY FARMER VIETNAM USMC" The inscription suggests a possible Vietnam-era U.S. Marine association; however, no documentation accompanies the knife to verify the individual named, when the inscription was applied, or whether this particular knife was carried in Vietnam. Knife shows age-related finish wear, patina, oxidation, scratches, and handling wear. Blade retains its double-edge dagger profile. Leather sheath shows expected age and use wear with visible stitching and snap closure. Please review photographs carefully for markings, construction, and condition. Estimated Era: Fairbairn-Sykes Third Pattern design, WWII through postwar/Vietnam era. This item came from a collector’s estate.
