Vintage 1940 Elgin National Watch Co. grade 554 model 2 mechanical open-face pocket watch featuring a 51.91mm base metal case with a stylized rope-pattern textured outer coin-edge bezel ring. The inside caseback displays a satin machined finish stamped with the circular "Illinois WATCH CASE CO. ELGIN NICKEL" factory trademark crest, alongside serial number 0642952, and "CASED AND TIMED BY ELGIN NATIONAL WATCH CO. SWISS CASE". The white Montgomery-style railroad dial showcases bold black Arabic numeral hour tracks, an outer numerical minute track with individual numbers from 1 to 60, a prominent printed red 60-second marker, a sunken sub-seconds register dial centered above the 6 position, matching blue spade-style main hands, and a printed upper brand signature reading "ELGIN". The watch houses an American-made, 16-size manual-wind safety pinion pocket movement carrying serial number 39154258, a gold-gilt 3/4 plate configuration with a native 17 jewels configuration, and explicit plates stamped "ELGIN NATL WATCH CO.
