Stop-Lite Strobelite, a vintage industrial stroboscope in a gray hammertone steel case. The maker plate reads STOP-LITE, STROBELITE, MFG. BY PRODUCTS ENGINEERING CO., TINLEY PARK, ILL., MODEL NO. 200, PRIMARY 120 V. A.C. The serial number field is worn and not legible in the photos. The top panel carries a knurled FLASH-RATE knob numbered 1 through 11 and a separate rotary switch marked OFF, 1, 2 and 3. A polished aluminum reflector bowl at one end holds a clear straight strobe tube, and a cloth-covered two-prong cord is attached, with a paper label reading 120 Volts A.C. at the cord entry. Strobes of this type were shop instruments: flashing at a set rate, they appear to freeze a spinning shaft, belt or fan so it can be inspected or its speed read. The finish shows scuffing, oxidation and heavy age spotting on the knobs, and the cord is aged with surface wear. The consignor listing gave the maker as Western Union Telegraph Co., which the plate does not support. Condition is fair. Not tested for function, and old wiring should be checked by a qualified person before it is plugged in. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
