Brooch of Greek River-God and Siren.

3.0*4.0cm Wt:14.6g
At the brooch's centre stands a vividly rendered Greek river?god, with furrowed features, a full thick beard and deep?set eyes, symbolising the primal power and life?giving nourishment of rivers. Flanking him are two bust?length Sirens. In Greek mythology, these sea?nymphs bewitched sailors; here they are re?imagined as water spirits, forming a cohesive aquatic?myth narrative alongside the river?god. Their graceful poise creates a soft contrast against the rugged power of the central figure. Crafted in three?dimensional cast gold, fine chasing sharply defines the river?god's anatomical texture and the Sirens' flowing hair. The background is finished in pale?green champlev?? enamel evoking the clarity and stillness of water, establishing a gentle tonal contrast against the gold ground. Suspended at the bottom hangs an opal, displaying dreamy iridescent play?of?colour under light, reminiscent of shimmering ripples on water. It echoes the aquatic theme and infuses the solemn mythological composition with dynamism and mystery.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS, REFUNDS, OR CANCELLATIONS.

Condition and Authenticity:

Any statement in the catalogue, condition report, photographs, video, invoice, or other written or oral communication regarding the origin, date, age, attribution, authorship, authenticity, provenance, material, condition, or estimated selling price of any lot is a statement of opinion only.
