George V Sapphire-Mounted Sovereign Coin .

D??2.3cm Wt:10.5g
The obverse bears the profile portrait of King George?V together with his engraved legend:?"GEORGIVS V D.G.BRITT:OMN:REX F.D.IND:IMP". The reverse is decorated with the iconic motif of Saint?George on horseback slaying the dragon with his sword. Saint?George was a martyr of Christian legend. His dragon?slaying tale has been passed down through generations. According to the story, a venomous dragon dwelt by the coast of Libya. Terrified of its power, local inhabitants annually offered young maidens as human sacrifices. Saint?George appeared clad in armour upon his steed to confront the beast. The rearing horse trampled the dragon's wings, while Saint?George drove his sword through the dragon's throat. The legend of Saint?George and the dragon embodies the ideals of defending the vulnerable, standing firm against aggressors, and achieving sanctity through sacrifice.

ALL PROPERTY IS SOLD AS IS, WHERE IS, WITH NO RETURNS, REFUNDS, OR CANCELLATIONS.

Condition and Authenticity:

Any statement in the catalogue, condition report, photographs, video, invoice, or other written or oral communication regarding the origin, date, age, attribution, authorship, authenticity, provenance, material, condition, or estimated selling price of any lot is a statement of opinion only.
