This pair of circular decorative plaques consists of painted and lacquered wood panels set within black-painted frames. The hand-painted compositions illustrate traditional Russian winter motifs, each featuring a troika, a three-horse sled team, traversing a snowy landscape. One plaque depicts the sled moving past a snow-laden forest, while the other shows a troika in an open landscape with a background of village huts. The figures are dressed in traditional winter attire, and the sleds are decorated with folk-style floral patterns. The reverse of one plaque bears an ink stamp reading MADE IN SOVIET UNION in English block letters. Diameter approx. 10 inches. Condition: Both plaques exhibit significant age-related crazing and fine surface cracking across the painted fields. There are minor areas of paint loss and surface scuffs. The black-painted frames show moderate wear and scuffing along the edges.
