Winchester Model 54 Bolt-Action Rifle in .270 W.C.F. — Nickel Steel, Lyman Receiver Sight Up for auction is a vintage Winchester Model 54 bolt-action sporting rifle chambered in the classic .270 W.C.F. (Winchester Center Fire) — the very cartridge introduced alongside this model and later immortalized by writer Jack O'Connor. The Model 54 was Winchester's first modern high-power bolt-action sporting rifle, produced from 1925 to 1936, and served as the direct predecessor to the famed Model 70 — making it a cornerstone piece for any pre-'64 Winchester or American sporting rifle collection. Markings: Barrel is roll-marked "MODEL 54 · WINCHESTER · NICKEL STEEL · TRADE MARK" with ".270 W.C.F." caliber designation stamped ahead of the receiver ring. "WINCHESTER TRADE MARK" is also stamped on the receiver bridge.
