Cast Aluminum Laurel Pattern Demilune Garden

This vintage garden bench is crafted in cast aluminum and exhibits the classic Laurel pattern, notable for its dramatic naturalistic design. The gently curved or demilune form is accentuated by a pierced back composed of a repeating series of large,dimensional laurel leaves and branching botanical foliage set within scalloped arched panels. The seat is also pierced with scrolling and radiating openwork decoration. Front side supports are sculptural, modeled as winged bird-form figures with detailed feathered bodies merging into curved legs. Additional slender supports beneath maintain stability and a delicate appearance. The design is based on Victorian-era Laurel pattern furniture later produced by American foundries such as J. L. Mott Iron Works and HART. This mid-20th-century example retains an older white-painted finish with expected paint loss, chipping, rubbing, discoloration, and weathering from outdoor use. Approximate dimensions are 40 inches wide, 16-inch seatheight, and 28-inch back height.
