VINTAGE INDIANA GLASS BLUE SATIN FROSTED PANELED JAR - NO LID, BASE ONLY - GREAT VASE OR CANISTER A vintage Indiana Glass paneled jar in the soft blue satin frosted finish, offered as the base only. THE LID IS MISSING AND IS NOT INCLUDED. The body has a gently swelled barrel shape with subtle vertical panels running from the flared foot to the flared collar, and the entire surface carries a matte, lightly frosted light-blue finish that glows softly in daylight. Even without its cover, the form stands on its own as a vase, a utensil or brush crock, a cotton-ball or bath jar, a candle holder for a large pillar, or a canister for dry goods on an open shelf. Sold as one piece, base only. Description Single paneled jar body, waisted barrel form with a flared molded foot, subtle vertical panel facets around the sides, and a flared rim with an interior ledge where the lid originally seated. Measures approximately 6-1/4" to 6-1/2" tall and approximately 5" across the rim per the tape-measure photographs; bidders should verify all dimensions from the photographs. Satin, acid-frosted matte finish in a light powder blue, applied overall inside and out; the color shades slightly deeper toward the foot and the collar where the glass is thicker. No maker's mark, backstamp, embossing, or paper label is present. The base is smooth and molded with a plain recessed ring, as pictured. Attribution note Indiana Glass Company of Dunkirk, Indiana produced satin frosted pressed glass in blue and other pastel colors, and jars, canisters, and vases of this paneled shape are commonly attributed to that firm by collectors and dealers. Indiana Glass did not mark most of its pressed wares, relying instead on paper or foil labels that were removed or washed off, so unmarked examples are the norm rather than the exception. The Indiana Glass identification reflects the color, satin treatment, and molded form and is offered as the consignor's photo-based opinion rather than a guarantee. Bid on the item as pictured. Condition Used vintage condition, sold as-is. The matching lid is missing - this lot is the jar base only. In the photographs the satin finish is even and unworn, the blue color is uniform, and the panels and rim are crisp. No chips, cracks, breaks, or repairs are visible in the photographs. Light interior haze and faint surface marks from handling and storage may be present, and satin glass of this type shows fingerprints and water spotting easily. Areas to study closely are the rim edge and the interior lid ledge, the panel corners, and the outer edge of the flared foot. Photos are part of the description. Notes for bidders Acid-satin finishes should be hand washed with mild soap and dried promptly; abrasive cleaners and dishwashers will polish or dull the frosted surface permanently.
