Artist Biography Maynard Reece (1920–2020) was one of America's foremost wildlife painters and among the most celebrated artists in the history of sporting art. Born in Iowa, he developed a lifelong fascination with birds and wetlands, later serving as an artist in the U.S. Army Signal Corps during the Second World War.Reece achieved international acclaim after winning the prestigious Federal Duck Stamp Competition a record five times, becoming one of the most decorated wildlife artists of the twentieth century.
