A second Volume I of the United States Commemorative Statehood Quarters Collector's Album, 1999 through 2003, with a different item number on its sticker than the other Volume I in this sale. It is a half-series book: fifty recesses holding two coins for each of the twenty-five states of those years, an upper and a lower row for the Philadelphia and Denver strikings. All fifty are filled with circulated clad quarters, dates including Maryland 2000 and Ohio 2002. Every coin lies reverse up, so no mint mark can be checked and the P and D pairing cannot be confirmed. The 1999 block and much of 2003 read gold or tan. That coloring cannot be identified from photographs and may be toning, a coating or the lighting. A bit of history: each state picked its own design theme, and its governor made the final choice from candidates the Mint prepared. Clad quarters hold no silver and no melt. Fifty quarters are $12.50 face, and the album is part of the value. Estimated Value: $14 to $22. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot.
