Spencer Model 1865 breech-loading lever-action carbine. The receiver top is impressed with SPENCER REPEATING RIFLE CO BOSTON MASS PATD MARCH 6 1860 while the barrel breech isstamped M 1865. It features a walnut stock, saddle ring, and Stabler cutoff. The serial number 26503 is struck into the rear of the receiver. Metal shows dark patina and light pitting. Stock has dings and a wrist crack. Small chip behind barrel band. Lever action is functional.
