This vintage Moorcroft art pottery squat vase features a classic compressed bulbous form topped with a short flared neck. Hand-decorated using Moorcroft's signature tubelining technique, the piece displays stylized pink magnolia blossoms and sweeping green foliage set against a soft cream ground. The raised clay outlines provide strong tactile depth and fluid visual movement, all sealed beneath a smooth high-gloss glaze finish. The hand-painted monogram on the bottom, WM, correspond to Walter Moorcroft, son of founder William Moorcroft, who ran the factory from 1945 through the later 20th century. Founded in Burslem, Stoke-on-Trent, England, Moorcroft Pottery is internationally recognized for maintaining traditional Victorian hand-crafting methods. Each item is individually hand-piped with liquid clay slip before hand-painting with metallic oxide glazes, creating a distinct hand-crafted finish. Preserved in excellent condition with bright, vibrant enamels and no chips, cracks, or restorations, this vase makes an elegant addition to any art pottery collection.
