Vintage U.S. military M1 Garand-style bayonet featuring a steel blade, dark ribbed grips, hooked pommel, muzzle-ring crossguard, and locking mechanism. The bayonet measures approximately 11" in total length and shows substantial age and service-type wear throughout. The design is associated with the family of U.S. bayonets used with the M1 Garand and M1903 Springfield rifles during the World War II era. In 1943, the U.S. Army standardized a shorter 10" blade M1 bayonet and also shortened large numbers of earlier 16" M1905 bayonets to approximately 10" blade length. Important identification note: this particular example measures only about 11" overall, substantially shorter than a standard WWII M1 bayonet, which normally has a roughly 10" blade alone. The blade therefore appears to have been shortened or modified at some point, and I would not catalog it as an unaltered regulation M1 or M1905E1 without identifiable maker/date markings. Standard WWII shortened M1905/M1905E1 examples were brought down to a 10" blade. The blade has a central fuller and pointed profile, while the ribbed grips and crossguard retain the classic U.S. military configuration. No clearly legible manufacturer, date, or arsenal markings are visible in the provided photographs. An accompanying handwritten note identifies it as “M1 Garand WWII Era,” but this should be considered previous-owner attribution rather than a confirmed marking. Vintage preowned condition with finish loss, oxidation/discoloration, scratches, edge wear, sharpening or grinding marks, and general surface wear consistent with age and use. No scabbard is included. An interesting piece of vintage U.S. military memorabilia for a WWII, M1 Garand, or bayonet collection. Measures approximately 11" total length. See photos for details and condition.
