Artwork Title: Woman in a Hat Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 16 × 12 inches (40.6 × 30.5 cm) Year: 1930, as inscribed on the work Condition: Good overall condition. The painted surface presents strong coloration and expressive, layered brushwork. Minor surface wear and handling marks consistent with age and presentation may be present. The work is presented in an ornate gold-tone frame and displays well. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private collection. Visual Description: Stylized portrait of a seated woman wearing a broad-brimmed hat, rendered through overlapping and fragmented facial planes. The composition combines turquoise, violet, olive, orange, black, and gray, with strong contour lines defining the face, hair, clothing, and chair. The simultaneous suggestion of frontal and profile viewpoints creates a distinctly Cubist-inspired treatment of the sitter. An inscription reading “Picasso 30” appears at the upper right. The merging of frontal and profile viewpoints is a documented feature of Picasso's portrait vocabulary. COLLECTOR'S NOTE: This hand-created artwork offers collectors an opportunity to enjoy the visual language, technique, composition, and artistic characteristics associated with the named artist at a substantially more accessible price point than authenticated works by that artist, which may command significantly higher prices in the established fine-art market. Offered “in the style of” the named artist, the work should be appreciated and valued on its own merits as a hand-created piece inspired by an important artistic tradition. It provides an accessible way to acquire a visually compelling artwork reflecting the aesthetic qualities associated with a celebrated artist without the price expectations attached to an authenticated work.
