R Serial # 2797781. .30-06 caliber semi auto rifle with a 24” barrel. The bore is excellent, mostly clean with string rifling. The receiver was made in April of 1944. The S-A barrel is dated 9-51. The bolt, trigger group, hammer and op-rod are all marked SA. The rifle has many of the hallmarks of a USMC rebuilt rifle from the 1960’s. These were sold through CMP several years ago. The rifle has a double stamped “A” on the pistol grip indicating it was rebuilt at the Marine Service Center in Albany, NY. The receiver heel is electro-penciled O-65 signifying overhaul in 1965. The op rod, floor plate and stock have the last 3 digits of the S/N written in grease pencil. The dark gray parkerized finish on the barrel and gas cylinder is in excellent condition showing very light edge wear. The dark gray parkerized finish on the receiver and op rod is in excellent condition as well showing little wear. The dark gray parkerized finish on the bolt is in very good condition showing light action wear on the lugs. The dark gray parkerized finish on the stamped trigger group shows little wear. The walnut stock and hand guards are in excellent condition showing little sign of use. No cartouches visible. The action works fine. Includes a canvas web sling. C&R.
