R Serial # 85440. 7.7mm caliber Japanese caliber bolt action rifle with a 26” barrel. The bore is excellent, clean with strong rifling. Made at the Nagoya Arsenal with 2nd Series markings. The bolt is mis-matched to the receiver, but all matching within itself. The nose band is missing. The stock has been cut off near the mid-band and the front end including the hand guard and barrel bands have been discarded. The blued metal finish on the barrel and receiver is in good condition showing edge wear and thinning along with some speckling from chemical exposure. There is older cleaned rust near the muzzle. The metal finish on the floor plate and trigger guard is in fair condition showing thinning with scattered light rust. The mum is intact. Anti-aircraft type ladder rear sight, the extendable wings are intact. The hardwood stock has been cut as mentioned, the remaining wood is in good military condition showing dings and scratches with finish wear. The cleaning rod is present. Original steel butt plate and side swivel. The action works fine. C&R.
