Serial # 33455. .45 Colt caliber 6 shot double action revolver with an 8” barrel. The bore appears to be very good, mostly clean with strong rifling. The left side of the frame is marked “Starr Arms Co. New York”, the right side is marked “Starr’s Patent Jan 15 1856”. The revolver is a Civil War era percussion revolver that was converted after the war to fire metallic cartridges by machining the rear nipple portion of the cylinder off, adding a loading gate and a spacer ring and removing the loading lever assembly. The conversion was most likely done in Europe. The metal finish on the barrel, frame and cylinder is a rusty brown patina showing dings, scratches and pitting. The markings are legible. The cylinder, barrel and frame are mis-matched. The walnut grips are in good condition showing light marks and finish wear. There is a large “B” carved into the butt. The action does not work. Approx. 32,000 Model 1863’s were made from 1863-1865.
