Vintage five gallon metal Conoco oil can. Round rocker style with a domed top, a large threaded fill cap with a screw lid, a tall pour spout with its own cap, and a wire bail handle with a wood grip. One side carries the classic Conoco graphic, a large red inverted triangle with the Conoco name across it on a white and green ground, with 5 U.S. GALLONS in green above the logo and T.M. REG. U.S. PAT. OFF. in small red type. Below the triangle is a printed panel reading TRANSMISSION OIL SAE 140 and under that MANUFACTURED BY CONTINENTAL OIL COMPANY. The opposite side is solid dark green. Condition is fair, exactly what a barn found can looks like. Heavy surface rust on the top dome, the spout, the bottom and around the seams, the white ground is stained and speckled with rust, and there is paint loss and scratching throughout. The Conoco triangle and the TRANSMISSION OIL SAE 140 panel are both still clearly readable. Authenticity has not been verified by Crawford Auction Service. Estimated Value: $30 to $60 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is. Photos are the most accurate description of this lot. Written descriptions are a guide only and may contain errors.
