Embossed tin lithograph sign, De Laval Cream Separators, blue and white. Center oval: a woman in a bonnet beside a cow in a laurel wreath. Corner panels: Ayrshire, Guernsey, Holstein-Friesian, Dutch Belted. Top reads DE LAVAL CREAM SEPARATORS in raised letters, SAVE $10 TO $15 PER COW EVERY YEAR OF USE and 1,500,000 IN USE. Lower panel reads THE DE LAVAL SEPARATOR COMPANY, GENERAL OFFICES 165 BROADWAY NEW YORK and 29 E. MADISON ST. CHICAGO, plus branch offices. Roughly 12 by 20 inches. Here is the honest part: we cannot tell from photographs alone whether this is a period original from the early 1900s or a later reproduction of that design, and reproductions of De Laval signs are common. A verified period original is worth many times a reproduction, so this sign is worth inspecting in person. Condition is fair: heavy orange rust and image loss through the center, rust at the edges and mounting holes, white painted back with reverse embossing and black adhesive residue in the corners.
