Western Union Double-Sided Metal Sign

Double-sided metal Western Union sign. Both faces are black with the name in bright yellow slanted block lettering inside a yellow rounded rectangle outline. Roughly 15 to 16 inches wide by 8 inches tall, rounded corners, eight mounting holes, four along the top and four along the bottom, the pattern used to hang it in a bracket at a service window or storefront. Unlike most signs in this sale, this one does not appear to be reproduction decor. The face shows real service wear: heavy fine scratching, scuffs, paint rubs at the lower left, a yellow paint smear near the bottom center of one side and general dulling of the black. The leaning block letter logo is the mark Western Union adopted in the early 1970s, so this is most consistent with an agency or office sign from that period forward. No maker mark, date or part number is visible in any photo. Condition is good for a used commercial sign with no dents, bends or rust. Authenticity has not been verified by Crawford Auction Service.
