Antique cast iron cobbler's shoe repair stand in two pieces, the working anvil used to resole and re-nail boots. (1) The upright post, a tapered cast iron column standing roughly 18 inches tall on a heavy four lobed clover shaped foot about 8 inches across. WARRANTED is cast into the side of the column. (2) A cast iron shoe last, roughly 8 and a half inches long, with a pointed toe and a squared socket underneath that drops over the top of the post. The last is cast WARRANTED 11 on the side, the 11 being the shoe size the form was made to fit. Assembled, the stand and last reach about 20 inches tall. Condition is good as an antique. The iron carries heavy dark patina with surface rust and pitting across the base and the underside of the last, there are no cracks or breaks visible in the photos, and the last seats firmly on the post. These sell to primitive and industrial decorators and make a good bookend, doorstop, or display piece. Estimated Value: $30 to $60 based on comparable recent sales. Sold as-is.
