Excellent selection of 20 different comics, all centered upon the infamous character from Marvel Comics, The Silver Surfer. This lot is specifically focused on the first solo series of the character from 1968-1970 and is considered a high benchmark within the Silver Age of comics. These books were primarily written by Stan Lee, who cited the Surfer as one of his favorite characters. Artist John Buscema penciled the first 17 issues, but co-creator of the Surfer, Jack Kirby, returned for the final issue, #18. The series holds number of key issues within it including Issue # 1 (the Surfer’s origin story and the first appearance of Shalla-Bal), Issue # 3 (first appearance of Mephisto), and Issue # 4 (iconic cover with The Mighty Thor). Each of the books have been placed in high end protective sleeves for preservation and durability. Grading standards would suggest that some of the comics range from G to VG grades with some of the latter issues hitting around the F grade mark.
