This steel fuel container, commonly known as a jerry can, is marked with "1943" and "WD" for War Department, indicating British military use during World War II. The olive drab paint finish is evident though extensively worn, and original stamped markings are visible on the broad side. The can features the iconic pressed steel X-pattern for strength and a three-handle design for easy transport by one or two people. Included is a metal pouring spout, attached to the lid via a clamp mechanism. Rust is present in areas, consistent with period use and age, particularly along the seams and base. This jerry can represents a widely used logistic item essential for Allied fuel distribution during wartime operations. Approximate height is 18 inches, width 13 inches, and depth 6.5 inches.
