This German optical carrier features silver foil stampings inside the lid reading "Optisches Institut / Martin Koch / Landsberg a/L. / Hinteranger", "Martin Koch / Lindau i. B. / Beim Rathaus", and "M. & W. Koch / Zürich / Bahnhofstr. 11" (Optical Institute / Martin Koch / Landsberg on the Lech / Hinteranger, Martin Koch / Lindau on Lake Constance / At the Town Hall, and M. & W. Koch / Zurich / 11 Bahnhof Street). This case dates from the late 1930s to the early 1940s. The case measures 4.5 inches high by 5.25 inches wide (11.4 cm H x 13.3 cm W). Constructed from hard-molded textured black leather, this case features stitched edges, side strap guides, a rear belt loop, and a front buckle-latch closure. It retains its functional closure buckle strap and original leather shoulder strap, which shows an old hand-stitched repair where it was joined back together near one end. The leather exhibits age-appropriate wear, surface scuffing, edge rubbing, and natural patina throughout.
