WWII German Rechengerät 44 Artillery Calculator

This WWII German Rechengerät 44 (Calculating Device 44) mechanical artillery plotting board enables rapid field ballistic calculations, target range adjustments, and joint ground-to-air target registration without manual trigonometry. Constructed with a varnished wooden frame measuring 36 by 23 1/2 by 1 inches with internal mechanical slide controls, the front face features dual circular logarithmic scales labeled Einschießen der Richtung (Adjustment of Direction) and Einschießen der Entfernung (Adjustment of Range), alongside numerical entry windows (Korrektur eintragen) for directional corrections (links/rechts). The reverse side features a coordinate grid layout accompanied by step-by-step operating formulas (Feuerverlegen mit Hilfe des Koeffizienten "K" and Einschießen nach Stoppuhr) for adjusting battery fire based on stopwatch timing. The frame includes integrated wire fold-out support legs and three interchangeable plastic inserts measuring 31 1/2 by 19 3/4 inches detailing operational protocols and air navigation procedures (Luftnavigation). The 20 Reichsmark banknote shown in the photographs was used solely for scale and is not included. The set comes with an olive green vinyl transport case, bearing the stenciled designation "RG-44" across the front flap with dual canvas closure straps and a leather top handle.
