This is a tan cotton field cap as issued to German Afrika Korps (Deutsches Afrikakorps, DAK) personnel during the North African campaign of World War II. The cap features a high, soft crown with a wide band and a peak visor. A detachable neck flap is secured by brass buttons, designed to protect the wearer from the intense desert sun. The interior is lined in red and stamped with a diamond-shaped marking and the size '58.' Items such as these were specifically produced for the DAK to offer comfort and protection in arid environments, becoming distinctive elements of their uniform. The cap shows no visible insignia and appears to be in good overall condition, with stitching and fabric intact, and the neck flap present.
