Jay Van Everen (American, 1875–1947). Untitled Geometric Abstract Composition. Watercolor on paper, signed VAN lower right. This striking abstract composition showcases Jay Van Everen's exploration of geometric modernism through a harmonious arrangement of intersecting curves, circles, angular forms and bold black contours. Executed in luminous watercolor washes of pale blue, soft cream and vibrant yellow, the composition balances precise linear structure with fluid painterly transitions, creating a sophisticated interplay of movement, rhythm and color. An accomplished painter, illustrator and early American modernist, Van Everen was active in New York during the first half of the twentieth century. His work reflects influences of Cubism, Art Deco and European abstraction while maintaining a distinctly American sensibility. Works by the artist are represented in notable museum collections, including the Whitney Museum of American Art. Presented under archival matting in a wood frame. Medium Watercolor on paper Signature Signed VAN lower right Sight Size 18" x 12" Frame Size 29" x 22.5" Condition Appears to be in very good overall condition with strong color and no apparent losses visible through the frame. Not examined out of frame.
