A WWII German military M31 pattern field rucksack measuring 20.0" x 18.0". Constructed from heavy olive-green canvas with leather trim and integrated leather shoulder straps, this large-capacity pattern was commonly utilized by mountain troops (Gebirgsjäger), infantry, and support units. The rucksack features a main drawstring compartment with an interior cloth divider flap, a single exterior front pocket with a leather strap buckle closure, and leather utility loops stitched to the top flap and sides for securing external gear. Condition is good overall for field gear, showing natural canvas wear, light fraying along the drawstring cord, surface oxidation on metal hardware fittings, and typical age stiffening and surface scuffing to the leather components.
