ca. 1789 record; Printed and watercolor illuminated Fraktur Tauf-schein attributed to Johann Friederich Krebs, a schoolmaster in Dauphin Co. that did Fraktur records throughout much of eastern PA. The type-set printing is attributed to "The Adler" printing office in Reading, PA. The record has fine watercolor illumination of round sun faces, tulips and flower stems, recording Catharina Elizabeth Schäfer (Schaeffer) born 23rd day August 1789, Upper-Saucon Twp., Nothampton Co., PA. She was the daughter of Peter and Christina (Schuralbin) Schäfer, framed in a modern stained pine bevel-edge frame; 18 1/2" x 15 1/2"; Condition: Extensive roll creasing and center line fold is noted. Old repair to paper loss is to upper and left side illustrations.
