ca. 1890; Salt glazed cylindrical stoneware butter crock with lid having a brushed cobalt wavy flowering vine design typical of Daniel P. Shenfelder Reading, PA pottery. The lid with a three section feathered motif and encircling brushed cobalt ring around the knob, a technique generally attributed to southeastern PA. Crock has an Albany slip glaze interior, flattened rim and an impressed shoulder ring; 5 1/4" high (total), 8 5/8" diam; Condition: (3) 1/2" and smaller interior rim flakes, unknown residue drip on exterior.
