ca. 19th century; Appalachian-region, hickory splint "orschbach" shaped egg basket with "God's Eye" braced handle. This old utility weave egg basket has typical "orschbach" shape, 3/4" wide bent hoop handle, 1/2" wide bent hoop rim and froe split and shaved ribs with graduated sized weaving splints; 11 1/2" x 10 1/2" x 10 3/4"; Condition: extensive wear from use and some damage to one side of "God's Eye" bracing; some damage to weaving splints.
