ca. 19th - early 20th century; Small floral paint decorated Continental-type oval band box of bent softwood with metal clip fasteners and pin-peg mounted heads. The box has a mustard yellow ground with a blooming rose painted on the lid, 2 7/8" x 4 1/2" x 1 1/2", Condition: minor paint loss, good. Unknown origin, paint decorated slide-lid candle box with box nail construction. The sliding lid has a mounted trim-pull, red painted ground with stencil painted flowers and hand painted doves on stem design. The box ends have a stenciled floral design and lid has two painted peaches and branch design, 13 3/4" x 5 3/4" x 4 1/2", [Provenance: Attached "dealer tag" has origin as Central Virginia], Condition: Trim missing from top of box. Extensive paint loss. Unknown origin (possible European)
