2011 1 Oz Somali African Wildlife Elephant Silver Coin containing 1 troy ounce of .999 fine silver and a face value of 100 Shillings. Struck by the Bavarian State Mint in Germany, this issue is part of the popular African Wildlife Series, which features changing annual elephant designs that have made the coins popular with both collectors and silver stackers. The 2011 reverse depicts a mother elephant and her calf walking across the African savanna, with the calf holding its mother’s trunk. The obverse features the Somali Republic coat of arms, the 2011 date, and 100 Shillings denomination. The 2011 issue had a mintage of approximately 170,000 coins, adding collectible appeal to its silver content.
