With its San Francisco Mint origin and classic Peace Dollar design, this 1923-S issue is a notable example from the early years of the series. Struck in 90% silver, it contains .7734 troy ounces of pure silver and showcases Anthony de Francisci's iconic portrait of Liberty on the obverse and a resting eagle with an olive branch on the reverse. The Peace Dollar series debuted in 1921 to commemorate the restoration of peace following World War I. The 1923-S remains a popular date and mintmark combination, offering collectors a piece of early American silver-dollar history.
