Vintage Wittner Taktell mechanical metronome, made in Germany and presented with its original illustrated box and instruction sheet. This is a particularly nice vintage example, featuring a glossy brown molded case with the classic Wittner tuning-fork emblem, “Taktell” script logo, cream-colored interior plate, metal pendulum and adjustable tempo weight. The mechanism is marked Germany. The original box is especially interesting and helps date the set. It retains two 1960 Christmas Seals applied to the front, providing a strong period reference and suggesting the metronome was owned by at least the early 1960s. The box features colorful mid-century graphics and the Wittner Präzision branding. A handwritten name appears on one side of the box. Also included is the original bilingual German/English Taktell instruction sheet, which describes the mechanical operation and tempo settings. The metronome has an adjustable scale from approximately 40–208 beats per minute with traditional tempo ranges including Largo, Larghetto, Adagio, Andante, Moderato, Allegro, Presto and Prestissimo. Wind-up key is present. Vintage condition with surface scratches and general age-related wear to the metronome. Original cardboard box shows substantial edge and corner wear, scuffing, creasing and other storage wear consistent with age. Instruction sheet has toning, folds and age-related wear. Mechanical operation and accuracy have not been fully tested; sold as-is. A wonderful circa 1960 vintage German Wittner Taktell metronome set, made more collectible by the survival of its original box, instructions and period 1960 Christmas Seals. See photos for details and condition.
