This Smith-Corona Model 03-A3 bolt-action military rifle is chambered in .30-06 Springfield and represents a fascinating piece of American World War II production history. Serial number 4811839, this rifle was manufactured in 1943 and features an approximately 24.5" barrel with a shiny bore. Overall condition is good. The rifle wears a full-length wood stock with a checkered grip area and retains the steel receiver, bolt assembly, military-style sights, barrel bands, and other features associated with the 1903A3 platform. An aftermarket sling is also included. Smith-Corona, better known to many collectors for its typewriters, was one of the manufacturers called upon to produce 1903A3 rifles for the American war effort during World War II, giving surviving examples an especially interesting place in U.S. martial-arms collecting. The powerful .30-06 Springfield chambering further adds to the rifle’s classic military character. With its 1943 production date, Smith-Corona markings, period military lineage, and good overall presentation, this is a rifle that should speak directly to the U.S. military collector.
