Pilgrim Handblown Weather Glass With Box

Pilgrim handblown weather glass, also called a storm glass or thunder glass, roughly 7.5 inches from the hanging ring to the bottom knop, in colorless handblown glass with an applied solid glass ring, a long curved spout and an applied ball knop. The original carton is included. It is printed PILGRIM and HANDBLOWN over an engraved clipper ship vignette in a red rope border, and the side panels carry the complete forecasting key, which explains that a slow rise to the top of the spout signals a storm 8 to 24 hours out and that holding steady halfway up means clear weather, along with filling directions. Note that the metal hanging bracket referenced in those instructions is not present, and there is no model number or price printed anywhere. Condition of the glass is excellent, with the spout tip, the ring and its join, and the bottom knop all intact and no cracks. The box is poor, split, torn and taped. Sold as-is.
